We are a DKP Guild. This means all of our loot is distributed via the system described below.
Explanation of our Dragon Kill Point System
DKP - Dragon Kill Points
The system is designed to assure that the people who are most deserving (defined as those who have participated the most) get the items they want, without having one or two people in the guild "choosing" who gets what. The primary focus of the system is to promote fairness while at the same time minimizing any doubts about partial decisions.
DKP is awarded to each member who attends a given raid. Each mob is assigned a point value and when the mob dies everyone who was at the raid receives points. In addition, all loot is assigned a certain number of points by the officers
Using DKPs: When any loot dropping mob is killed; an officer will "lotto" the loots off one by one.
Lets say Yelinek's head is being auctioned off. An officer tells the guild 'who wants head?'
The officer would then receive tells from all players interested in the GoDS at which point he would compare all those interested with their current DKP IDKP standings and the person with the highest total would be announced as the winner. In the case of a tie(anything within 3 DKP is considered a tie) there would then be a weighted /random.
IDKP - Incentive Dragon Kill Points
IDKP is a modifier which gives you better positioning at lottos as a reward for attending "low profile" or "high risk" events. You recieve IDKP as compensation for your time at raids when there's no real "loot" or reason to give out DKP. DKP is based entirely on loot as you can only receive DKP at an event where DKP was spent by a member. So for example lets say we go to Zlandicar and he drops 2 claws, gloves, heart, fraka talis, and zland talis. Every twink has a claw that wants one so they both rot., no one in their right mind would pay DKP for the gloves so those are free, no one wants a heart that doesn't have one, no one has the faction to make shroud from harla, and zland talis is a key to sleepers which is awarded free to a member by the officers. The end result is that we just brought 30 ppl to an event and no one spent any DKP and thus no DKP can be give to those 30 for attending. Also, there are some raids in which no one wants to go to, but these raids are needed to further the guild's cause. For example, there is Klandicar and Sontolak. We need sleeper's keys, but Kland and Sont do not drop any loot that would warrant DKP being spent. Without compensation, there is little motivation for some members to attend an event. Failed raids where we kill nothing, but learn something in the process will recieve IDKP (Such as when we try a new mob, explore a new zone, or just anything productive as a guild that does not produce loot).
IDKP Adjustments: Once a week there is an adjustment of the IDKP totals for each member. This adjustment is to further ensure that the ppl who attend the most raids get the best chance of looting what they want the soonest. In addition, yes it CAN penalize you for not showing up to raids, but objectively this will only happen if you attend less than half the raids in a given week. Those that do attend all the raids are rewarded the most, those that attend ~ half neither gain nor lose with the IDKP system, and those that attend very few raids per week are penalized at the lottos.
IDKP is calculated as follows. You take the TOTAL IDKP earned that week and divide by the total number of active members and you come up with the adjustment.
Example: Week 1; there are 80 total IDKP earned and we have 60 active members. 80IDKP/60=1.33(rounded to 1.35) so you would have an adjustment of -1.35 for the end of week 1.
Week 1 before adjustment:
Player_1: earned 4.0 IDKP
Player_2: earned 2.0 IDKP
Player_3: earned 0.0 IDKP
After adjustment of -1.35:
Player_1: +2.65 IDKP
Player_2: +0.65 IDKP
Player_3: -1.35 IDKP
Official Rules
1) All Guild members will start with 0 DKP. IDKP for older members will vary.
2) Removing yourself from the guild and choosing/being allowed to return will result in forfeiture of all existing DKP/IDKP and having to start fresh as a new member.
3) Our weekly raid schedule will vary, but generally there will be six raid days a week with one day off. DKP depends on an ACTIVE guild to survive. Without active raiding the system will collapse. So we will be doing everything to make sure this doesn't happen.
4) Raid start times Monday through Friday will be 5pm PST. Raid start times Saturday and Sunday will be 3pm PST. 0.3 IDKPs will be awarded to all members who are in the proper zone and ready to go. Raid End times do vary but we try to end them by 9pm PST Sunday through Thursday.
5) DKPs will only be awarded at the end of successful raids. If you leave before cutoff and mob is still alive there will be no DKPs awarded to you. If the raid fails to yield any bidable loot then IDKPs will be awarded. (Such as Sontolak and Klandicar raids where the only loot is the ST key, which is not buyable with DKP or when we are trying out a new mob like the Avatar of War)
6) On Raid days there will be no use of /anon or /roleplay. It makes it very difficult to track members.
7) Bidding from negative DKP will be limited to No Drop items only. It is expected that this be a rare occurrence. Anyone thought to be abusing the system (ie. never working their way out of negative and back into positive) could have their lotto rights frozen by an officer.
8) Items that are droppable but unwanted for a main character by the members present at the raid will be put into the guild vault. A list of these items will be posted on the guilds private forum so they may be bid upon by primaries who may have not been in attendance at the raid in which they dropped. After a period of one week if no bids have been placed for the items they can be lotto'd for non primary characters or sold to the general public for guild funds.
9) Everyone on the roster will recieve credit for Sleeper's Tomb raids that yield loot. This is so as to not punish those who have not recieved a ST key yet.
10) If you choose at some point that you would like to change main char it will be subject to officer/GL approval and new main must meet the new member requirements for the class.
11) Recruit's gain DKP and IDKP while they attend our raids. Recruits can only spend their DKP though if no main of our guild wants to buy the item that dropped. All points earned are fully functional the day the recruit becomes a full fledged member.
